SLOW MOVING CREATURES
One of the most spectacular emotions when making music is the moment when you create a new MINDSCAPE with lyrics. To me, this all can start from one short sentence you invent/find and which then starts to gather more words and finally some music around it. If it is a good musical idea, it starts feeding itself and you can not forget it, even though you would not write it down on paper. This newly born mindscape creates also a visual image around it...mindscape with sound, words and a landscape, like 3-D painting with soundtrack playing at the back.
At the birth moment this song, in my mind, I saw a picture of a priestess hands straightened up to the sky, sitting cross-legged on an ancient meadow next to a fire. The priestess here is confident about the deepest secrets of the natural world only she has recently found out.
Slow Moving Creatures is the oldest song from ASTRALA. It was around December 2015, when I took the starting riff and the chorus to our rehearsals. I do recall that the basic structure was adopted very quickly by all and we could play the song throughout on the same day.
Susanna made some serious magic(k) with the vocal performance here. The singing harmonies fitted perfectly with the long guitar feedback notes and with the sitar-ish sounds in the verses. The song has a great solo by Jari and the great sound of Koch amps (we use) really shines here nicely. The solo sounds from Koch Multitone 100 w recorded at our home studio did not need later re-amping.
